The most important component is the tank. Given the large volume of water, the sleek shape and design, and the height of the installation, our primary challenge is ensuring the acrylic will be able to withstand the outward pressure of the water contained within.Our solution is to special order our acrylic material, also known as acrylic cast sheet or panels, manufactured here in Japan, and domestically assemble them one by one using solvent adhesives. Typically, as with most aquariums or water tanks, the panels would be made thick to withstand the pressure. However, given the aesthetic goals of Pearl Airation, we found an alternative solution in reinforcement ribbing. These thin panels are internally installed vertically along the width of the piece and not only provide greater support, but also act as corridors for the rising bubbles. All of the articulations between panels are meticulously examined and detailed to ensure there is no visible remnants of the adhesive. They can be changed afterward but will require additional cost and maintenance time. Yes, but very rarely. We use “airation water” instead of regular tap water. This specialized water is highly resistant to decay and deterioration and therefore requires no replacement or external water supply. Over time, there will be some volume loss due to evaporation. As such, the only maintenance required is a periodic top-up of the Airation water. The power supply is any ordinary wall outlet.

While our specially made acrylic panels are highly resistant to sunlight and mold, We recommend using Aqpane and Pearl Airation as room partitions, not as load-bearing structures, exterior walls, or any components intended to secure access to a building. Each panel must be securely fixed at both the top and bottom to the ceiling and floor. While the panels are durable, they should not be used as structural elements, nor is it recommended to lean or apply heavy pressure on them.
